This adaptor allows me to use current design blades on my older FEIN tool. It's works FEIN. Great idea, the FEIN tool is superb.
I was very disappointed in this Fein star adapter. It does not hold the star accessories very well. Not worth the money in my opinion.I expected more from Fein.
Fein is the Mercedes of toolmakers, with an arrogant take-it-or-leave-it attitude towards their customers that takes the breath away. They find a, for-them, cheap fix for a design flaw of their own making and then sell it without thought at a price of their choosing. The adapter in question, which is NEEDED to prevent certain attachments from wandering around the arbor, REQUIRES a longer Allen screw to attach it than came with the original tool, but this screw is NEITHER PROVIDED with the part NOR SPECIFIED on the packaging. So be prepared for another trip to a well-stocked industrial hardware store and get ready to do some experimenting.
The Fein Multi-Master and attachments are over-priced. "Pilot Error" on my part, but for the price, the adaptor should be made of more durable material. The metal is too soft and prone to wear. But they deliver in a lot of situations where there are no better tools. Despite the price, I'm glad to own them. However, the Star Mount Adaptor is easily damaged if you need to frequently change blade positions and don't take the time to carefully fit everything together. Still, the star adaptor holds blades on the older version of the Multi-Master well enough to justify the purchase. Barely.
Does exactly what it's supposed to do - makes new star-mount accessories usable on the old-style multimaster. No more slipping. Works great for me with cutting, sanding, and rasp.
